2025 Board of Directors Election
The California statutes allow HOAs to hold elections by acclamation. What does that mean? It means that if there are the same number of candidates, or fewer, than open positions, the election is uncontested and there is no need for balloting. This process saves HOAs several hundred of dollars since there is no need for printing and postage. However, the election timeline is a little longer due to requirements for member notification. Sadly, the early notice of the nomination deadline passed on 9/13/2024. So we have to comply with the traditional election timeline.
Here is the required election timeline:
- 11/12/2024 Notice of delivery date for the nomination procedures and deadline
- 12/12/2024 Nomination Deadline
- 12/27/2024 Deadline to select 1 or 3 inspector(s) of elections
- 1/1/2025 Pre-ballot notice date
- 1/30/2025 Voter list and candidate registration list corrections deadline
- 1/31/2025 to 2/7/2025 Ballot and election rule mailing date and finalize voter list
- 3/11/2025 ANNUAL MEMBER MEETING – Voting deadline and ballot- counting
- 3/26/2025 Last day to provide general notice of the tabulated election results.
As mentioned in the October newsletter, elections for directors will be here before we know it. We have seen some deplorable behavior from current board members and residents throughout the past 18 months. They have blatantly broken the same rules we are all expected to follow. They continue to disregard complaints and concerns, essentially silencing our voices. They have manipulated the election process and used intimidation and fear to get votes. They spend money like it is going out of style even though their mantra last year was to cry “broke”. They spread lies, enter into homes uninvited, display violence during meetings, and retaliate against anyone who stands up for what is right. We do NOT matter to them. These behaviors are what is described best as “narcissistic” and “self-serving motivations”.
The past is not something we want to repeat. All of us need to look ahead with our eyes wide open. Change is inevitable and necessary for the world to be a better place. Flowers exemplify beneficial change. If new buds are desecrated and stomped on, they will die. If those same buds are treated with respect, kindness, gentleness, and a little water, they will grow into the most beautiful things. Serving on the board should be more like tending to a garden of flowers, not like the terror we have seen since April. It is time to set aside the “way it has always been done” and seek a more honest and respectful way of leadership. Let this be an encouragement to anyone who has the strength of character to volunteer and serve for the betterment of our community.
Weill said. This current board has been an abomination.
Agreed!
