SDG&E Upgrade Goes Smoothly

On Friday, October 6, SDG&E came out and shut off the power to the park. This was to replace their 12KW transformer.

SDG&E had determined that their transformer was not keeping the voltage within limits, and this may have been the cause of voltage fluctuations that some residents noticed. Previously, SDG&E had come out once before to check on the transformer and make adjustments. But it was ultimately determined that a replacement was the best option.

SDG&E had Long Way closed for a short period as they replaced the transformer. Contrary to some misinformation going around the park, SDG&E does not charge us when they work on their own equipment.
Power comes to our park via this power pole…
…then it is routed to this 12KW transformer.
From the 12KW transformer on the right, the power steps down to a 4KW transformer on the far left. Then the power goes to the big green switchbox in the middle, which directs the power to our 6 transformers located throughout the park. Those six transformers, plus the switchbox, are what we own and are responsible for.
