A Trip to the Recyclers!

Every Tuesday our wonderful volunteers, Barbara Manson and Lynn Connearney, pick up plastic bottles and aluminum cans from residents.

It’s actually quite a bit, so each week or so it all needs to be turned in to the recycling center. The cash we get goes to the entertainment fund so we can have parties and such.

This last weekend Stan and I made the trip, and so here are a few pictures to show what goes into the whole process.

The cans and plastic bottles are stored at the clubhouse.
Loading up!
We couldn’t load all the bags this time!
Once at the recycling center we dump the plastic and aluminum into rolling barrels.
They must have a hundred of these barrels for everyone to use.
It all gets weighed on a large scale. It was very hot, and these guys work hard.
Net result: cash! A truckload gets us a bit over $100.00, depending on the mix of plastic and aluminum. The Foothills has raised thousands of dollars over the years doing this.
