A Visit About The Fruit Flies

Every so often we get a visit from Antoinette of the Agricultural Department. You’ll see her hanging traps in residents’ fruit trees.

The idea is to collect specimens of different fruit pests, and to see if we have any fruit flies around.

Antoinette hangs up several traps and then checks them every two weeks or so. She explained to me that San Diego has been lucky for the most part, but Valley Center is just coming off a year long quarantine due to fruit flies.

It’s obvious Antoinette loves her job, and she performs an important function for the county. If you see her around say hello!

We have two new pieces of equipment recently donated in our exercise room and I would like to use them but I don’t know how. If someone would like to give a lesson to anyone interested, it would be appreciated. Email me if there is a gym teacher or fitness guru out there!
