February Open Board Meeting
February 11 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

An open board meeting is a meeting where members of a board discuss community issues in front of the public. Open board meetings are important for transparency and accountability.
- Transparency: Open meetings allow the public to see how the board is making decisions.
- Accountability: Open meetings ensure that the board is acting in the best interest of the community.
In contrast, a “tyrannical board of directors” refers to a group of individuals who exert excessive control, dominate decision making processes, ignore dissenting opinions, actively assassinate the character of individuals who speak out against them, and creating an oppressive atmosphere where owners feel their voices are not heard, essentially acting like a dictatorship or tyranny.
-
Dominating presence:Board members consistently override others’ opinions, including owners, and push through their own agenda without open discussion.
-
Lack of transparency:Deliberately withholding information or not providing clear explanations for decisions made.
-
Intimidation tactics:Using aggressive behavior, personal attacks, or threats to silence dissent.
-
Disregard for dissenting views:Actively suppressing alternative perspectives and not considering input from other board members.
-
Manipulation of the agenda:Strategically controlling meeting topics and timeframes to limit debate.
It is virtually impossible for a board to maintain transparency and support accountability when the meeting is adjourned within 15 minutes and nothing is discussed. An example of this is when the maintenance director states his “report” was emailed to the directors and asks for “approval” without reading or sharing any information with the owners. Another example that this current board is actively and intentionally destroying transparency is how they refuse to answer questions, address issues, or even acknowledge receipt of the correspondence from owners.
As this board continues to misuse of community resources, misrepresent HOA finances, refuse to be transparent, and resist accountability, it comes closer to being a true dictatorship with no intent in acting on behalf of the association. It is up to the owners to bring this community bake to cohesiveness, truth, and prosperity. IT IS UP TO YOU.
