Smoking Violations

Smoking was officially banned in and around all common areas because of the health hazards and to protect our investment. This restriction went into place with the February 2024 updates to the Rules & regulations. While the board was working on those updates, many people came to me with smoking complaints and thanking me for adding this restriction. I was appalled when I learned that the burn spots on the pool area carpet were made by a prior board member shortly after the carpet was replaced….using your reserve funds!

As of today, I have submitted a third formal complaint to the board via Mary Plemons at PK Community Property Management regarding the same person. I encourage you to do the same if anyone is found smoking in common areas. I would be happy to share with you the complaint form and evidence I submitted. Feel free to contact me. [email protected]

It should be noted that all property other than your lot is considered community property. This includes the RV Lot which happens to be a favorite spot for one such board member to break the No Smoking Ban. I find it disturbing that, once again, this unnamed board member acts as if the rules do not apply to him/her. ,

    Kristen,
What new carpeting around the pool area are you talking about? We have lived here almost 5 years, that is the same carpeting and has not been replaced. Making that statement is very misleading!

      Joyce,
I apologize that the information in this article is misleading. The “new carpet” comment was related to when the carpet was new several years ago and certain individuals chose to smoke in the pool area right after it was installed. It is very curious to me that after this article was posted, two board member, one of who is the offending party, were witnessed scrubbing and power washing the same carpet. Never in my life have I been able to power wash or scrub out cigarette burns.

Joyce, before you moved in it was a common practice for several board members to meet daily at the pool area and smoke. The smell and stench was almost unbearable, and made using the pool unpleasant. After the pool carpet was replaced, the board members continued their practice of smoking, and carelessly burned holes in the carpet. I complained about this to them in person and I was told “if you don’t like it you can get the hell out.” For years that was the attitude of the board around here. It was better for a while, but now we have a board that has resorted back to the old ways.
