Why a recall of the 2024 HOA Board?

To the Homeowners of Foothills of San MarcosCall to Action: Recall of HOA Board 2024

Reasons Behind the Demand for New Leadership

  1. Voting Flexibility: Residents are frustrated because they couldn’t change their votes after receiving new information. This rigidity in the voting process has led to concerns about fairness and adaptability.
  2. Election Integrity Concerns: There have been troubling reports of voter intimidation and manipulation during elections. Accusations include candidates improperly marking ballots for others, which could seriously undermine our community’s trust in the electoral process.
  3. Unethical Behavior by Board Members: Recent revelations have shown that two current board members previously mistreated employees of the HOA, which led to the issuance of restraining orders that are now in effect until at least October 2024. If members had known about these actions, many would not have supported these individuals. Such behavior contradicts the ethical standards we expect from our leaders.
  4. Inappropriate Appointments: The appointment of G.C. as Maintenance Director has been controversial. Despite being aware of his past issues with anger management and poor judgment, including a serious incident where he entered another member’s home without permission, the board still appointed him to this position. This decision has raised doubts about the board’s judgment and commitment to member welfare.
  5. Lack of Transparency and Consultation: Decisions such as closing the maintenance office and reassigning maintenance tasks were made without proper discussion or notification. This not only disregards the principle of collective decision-making but could also lead to unnecessary expenses and legal problems for the HOA.
  6. Lack of Trust Among Board Members: Unfounded accusations by the board president and  treasurer, of petty cash theft has created discord and distrust among board members.
  7. Inconvenient Meeting Scheduling: Changes to the timing and location of open board meetings have been inconvenient for many working members, reducing their ability to participate. Holding meetings on weekday mornings and in less accessible locations appears to be an attempt to discourage member involvement.
  8. Lies and Fear Mongering: the supposed cost of a recall running $10,000 or more is an outright lie and fear tactic being used by some members of the board. A recall will cost this association approximately the cost of three to four separate mailings from PK Management to homeowners.

These issues underscore the urgent need for new leadership in our HOA. As a community, it’s crucial that we rally together to ensure our governance structures reflect our shared values of integrity, transparency, and respect. The call for a board recall isn’t just about addressing past issues; it’s about shaping a future where every member’s voice is heard and valued.

Together, we can bring about the changes needed to ensure our community is a place where everyone feels safe, heard, respected, and represented. Contact Tammy Carr if you have questions.
